First Steps is a two-level course for teaching very young children.

It uses a situational/functional methodology where the themes and activities focus on the world and interests of the child. This includes a careful balance of listening, visual and kinaestetic activities.

The Pupil´s Cassette is for home listening which enables the child to listen to the new language passively.

The meaning of the already listened to language is then playfully practised in the lessons conducted by the teacher/parent.

The Pupil´s Book is divided into units by themes and each of these uses a mixture of colour and black-and-white pages to present and practise new language.

Each lesson presents `something old´ followed by `something new´, followed by `something fun´ (song, rhyme, game)

The Teacher´s Guide provides detailed advice to each lesson plus basic and additional activities which can be selected at the teacher´s discretion.
